Who We Are
A group of people who have come together because we strongly believe in how the outdoors and a healthy lifestyle can maintain and restore physical and mental wellbeing.
By engaging with people from all backgrounds and, in particular, those who are socially isolated and/or vulnerable, we promote physical and emotional wellbeing and a sense of social inclusion.
Alongside this, we have a mission to maintain and restore local pathways and countryside, making it accessible and enjoyable for all of us.
How we do it
We have a varied set of ambitious targets that we deliver through a number of services and projects, which include:
• Community engagement programmes
• Schools projects and working with disadvantaged children
• Heritage and environmental preservation projects
• Wellbeing walking events throughout the north
• Partnering with other charities to help achieve their objectives
Why Walking and Talking
Walking is THE most accessible form of exercise most people have. It can be done anywhere without the need for specialist equipment and it brings us in to contact with nature, our environment and, importantly, each other. Done regularly, it forms part of a healthy lifestyle and sense of wellbeing.
Talking is, of course, our way of communicating with others and expressing ourselves. Social interaction and conversation is a vital part of feeling heard, understood and part of something meaningful.
It has been observed that, for many people, talking in itself can be difficult. Therefore, bringing walking and talking together facilitates conversation by adding a separate sense of purpose and allowing us to think more freely.
